''Scared Stiff'' (also known as ''Treasure of Fear'' (American television title) and ''You'll Be The Death Of Me Yet'') is a 1945 American comedic murder mystery directed by Frank McDonald for Pine-Thomas Productions and released by Paramount Pictures. The film stars Jack Haley, Ann Savage and Barton MacLane. Plot At his uncle's newspaper where Larry Elliot (Jack Haley) works as a reporter specializing in chess, he is known to miss out on bigger stories to cover more trivial events of minor interest. Confronted with an ultimatum if he wants to keep his job, Larry is assigned to cover a big harvest festival held at a winery in Grape City. Larry begins with getting off the bus at the wrong stop, Grape Center instead of Grape City. He has brought along his girlfriend Sally Warren ( Ann Savage), who deals in antiques. ''Scared Stiff'' is a 1953 American horror paranormal semi-musical comedy film directed by George Marshall and starring Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. One of the 17 films made by the Martin and Lewis team, it was released on April 27, 1953 by Paramount Pictures. It is the fourth screen adaptation of the 1909 play '' The Ghost Breaker'' by Paul Dickey and Charles W. Goddard, previously filmed under that title in 1914 and 1922 and as ''The Ghost Breakers'' in 1940. ''Scared Stiff'' was Carmen Miranda's final film appearance, as she died two years later in August 1955. ''Scared Stiff'' is a 1996 pinball game designed by Dennis Nordman and released by Midway (under the ''Bally'' label), featuring horror show-hostess Elvira. It is the follow-up to 1989's '' Elvira and the Party Monsters'', also designed by Nordman. Description The game features a B-movie horror theme. Players have to go through the Six Tales Of Terror to level up the Stiff-o-meter. These are: Eyes Of The Bony Beast, Terror From The Crate, the Stiff In The Coffin, the Monster's Lab, Night Of The Leapers, and the Return Of The Deadheads. Willo Davis Roberts (May 29, 1928 – November 19, 2004) was an American writer, known primarily for children's mystery and suspense novels. Biography Willo Louise Davis was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 1949, she married David W. Roberts. She was originally trained as a paramedic and began writing in her spare time. Her first book, "Murder At Grand Bay," (published in 1955) was written for an adult market. She won Edgar Allan Poe Awards ("Edgars") in 1989, 1995, and 1997 for best juvenile and best young adult mysteries. Her books included ''The View from the Cherry Tree'', ''Twisted Summer'', ''Sugar Isn't Everything'', ''Don't Hurt Laurie'', ''Megan's Island'', '' Baby-Sitting Is a Dangerous Job'', ''Hostage'', ''The Girl with the Silver Eyes'', ''The One Left Behind'', ''Scared Stiff'', ''Caught!'', and ''Undercurrents''.
